A Mechanical Spider! I modelled it in Maya 2018 then exported it to an FBX and used Houdini to perform some cleanup steps such as removing stray faces, welding verts, reversing flipped normals etc. I was planning on using Houdini's UV mapping tools too, but could not get a nice result with predictable seams. I then exported it to Zbrush where I added some smaller detail such as weld marks and nuts & bolts. Zbrush would create big holes in the mesh where ever there were Ngons, so I added a…
