It is so nice to have seen a northern saw-whet owl within a reasonable distance of my home. Before this owl I had seen four saw-whet owls in my life: one in Iowa, one in Michigan, and two in Ohio, all of which took at least a five hour drive to get to. So, when one was reported within 20 minutes of my house I felt that I had to see it. This owl was high up in a tree with very little light.
