Rebecca McDonagh on Instagram: "Here’s how it works! 👇  This strategy, called compensation, is a super easy alternative for kids (and adults!) who struggle with regrouping (or borrowing for my peeps born in the 80s and 90s like me!) across multiple zeroes.   💾Don’t forget to LIKE and SAVE this for later and FOLLOW for more fun math hacks and resources! ➕➗➖✖️  ⭐️When your whole number has a zero in the final place value(s), you can subtract one from both the whole and the part and the difference between the two numbers will stay the same!   ⭐️In subtraction (this does not work with addition- check out my other videos for addition hacks!), you can add or remove value from either number to create a compatible number to work with, as long as you do the same to both numbers.   ⭐️For example: How To Teach Borrowing In Subtraction, How To Subtract, 2 Digit Subtraction Activities, Teaching Subtraction With Regrouping, Addition Tricks, Subtraction Across Zeros, Subtraction With Borrowing, Teaching Subtraction, Mental Math Strategies
