White-tailed Hawk (Buteo albicaudatus)

Geranoaetus albicaudatus, White-tailed Hawk. Strikingly patterned raptor, usually found in open grassy areas or agricultural fields with scattered bushes in tropical and subtropical Americas. It likes to hover and observe the surroundings for potential prey, gliding to another place when nothing is found. Rabbits make up the majority of the hawk's diet in southern Texas, while lizards are the preferred prey in the Dutch West Indies. Its call is a high-pitched cackling ke ke ke.
