Vimāna is a mythological flying palace or chariot described in Hindu texts and Sanskrit epics. The Pushpaka Vimana of the demon king Ravana is the most quoted example of a vimana. Vimanas are also found in Jain texts. Propulsion systems are also described using electricity and gyroscopes.
"VYMANIKA" the ancient Indian name for aeroplanes. Among many significant contributions of ancient Indian scientists, Vymanika Shastra is notably a towering work dealing with vimanas and allied topics. Aviation as a subject, wrests its own charm over other disciplines even today. This makes the presence of this work even more glamorous. For a casual reader this work may appear to be a fantasy but it's a long forgotten reality of India and this World.
