A VICTORIAN LIDDED WINE JUG, EDWARD & JOHN BARNARD, LONDON 1851 of baluster form with scalloped stepped foot, flowerhead finial, chased with flowers, foliage and scrolls bordering a vacant cartouche together with a Victorian wine jug with stopper
Magnificent Newcastle balusters, exquisitely engraved with the arms of Anne, daughter of George II, and William IV, Prince of Orange, whom she married. The engraving is of the very highest order, and presumably Dutch, though oddly enough in the Dutch family from whose collection they came there was a tradition that they were the work of the Scottish engraver, Benjamin Payne.
