As the only non-profit organization chartered by Congress to provide emergency communication to the military families and veterans, the chapter briefed 250 members of the military under our “Get to Know Us Before You Need Us” program. It is a comforting thought to know that while the men and women in uniform are on a mission so that we can enjoy our freedom, the Red Cross is there standing ready to deliver messages to their families in times of emergency.

Any family member of a military personnel can call collect to:
1-877-272-7337 to relay a message to their loved one in the military or vice versa. The local chapter delivered 700 emergency messages for the military personnel allowing them to stay connected with their loved ones in times of emergency. The chapter averages about 50 -60- cases a month under the Service to Armed Forces program.

Our support of our military families does not stop once deployment is completed. The chapter enjoys a very good relationship with all branches of the military and also welcomes military volunteers who offer their assistance to the Red Cross chapter as a way of “giving back” or demonstrating their appreciation for the support of this humanitarian organization.
