“Brady always talked about this collage aspect,” says Blumberg, referring to the film’s mix of 35mm and digital formats with archival footage.

“We have the 35mm black-and-white for her memory of the past, Super 8 to show the intimacy with the people closest to her, 16mm is of this documentary crew filming her and then 35mm color is the master point of view,” he explains.

Filmmaker Michael Mann was present for a Q&A moderated by former Times film critic Justin Chang in between a 35mm presentation of Mann’s 1999 “The Insider” and a 4K restoration of his 1995 “Heat.”

“I could see people coming down from Hollywood — especially if there was 35mm every night. Retro repertory stuff? Oh, my God.”

Following a limited theatrical release, including some screenings in 35mm, the film begins streaming on the platform on Friday.
