Multiple wildfires continue to ravage Los Angeles County, destroying thousands of structures and forcing more than 130,000 residents to evacuate, with much of the area under a red flag warning through Friday night.

McVay, who lives in Hidden Hills, was among the coaches and players evacuated from their homes.

“He called everybody and said ‘I’m OK, I’m just waiting to be evacuated,’” the junior Mitchell said of their 5 a.m. phone call.

He called his nanny and told her to evacuate their home with their daughter and meet them in Santa Monica at a Whole Foods parking lot.

The National Guard has been deployed to protect evacuated neighborhoods from looters.
