A jubilee is a Church tradition which takes place only once every 25 years in which Catholics re-establish their relationship with God.

The fountain and other key city sites have been cleaned ahead of the jubilee of the Roman Catholic Church which begins on Christmas Eve.

The award given to King Hamad as well as King Abdullah of Jordan – who are both marking silver jubilees this year – was announced on Wednesday by Buckingham Palace.

These are clustered around The Mall, the road leading up to Buckingham Palace that has been the scene of many ceremonial processions, whether for jubilees or state visits.
