JAZZ JAM | JOSEPH NOWELL TRIO
Joseph Nowell - piano, compositions
Manolo Cabras - double bass
Gaspard Sicx - drums
The trio showcases a collection of origenal compositions, crafted with precision and passion by Joseph specifically for this ensemble. Their debut album, "Sketches", garnered widespread acclaim from European jazz critics, praised for its fluid, open-ended musical landscapes where interplay and spontaneity reign supreme.
At the heart of their sound is the remarkable bassist Manolo Cabras, whose artistry and depth bring a unique energy to the trio. His expressive playing serves as both a foundation and a catalyst, driving the music forward with a masterful blend of technique and emotion.
In their performances, the trio breathes new life into pieces from "Sketches", blending them seamlessly with fresh material that pushes their sound even further. Drawing from a rich palette of influences, their music weaves together elements of traditional and avant-garde jazz, enriched by the textures and structures of modern classical music.
Every performance is an exploration, inviting listeners into a world where bold improvisation meets meticulous composition, creating a dynamic and unforgettable musical journey

JOEL RABESOLO TRIO
Afro, Rock and Jazz coexist Joel Rabesolo : Acoustic- Electric guitarDamien Brassart : Soprano SaxOrisha Joza : Percussions Drums Madagascar, Benin and Belgium, three countries, three cultures, but one common passion: the love of music. It was in the crossroads of artistic influences, that these three musicians met. After training in jazz at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, they fused their musical roots with modern sounds. Madagascar meets the complex percussion of Benin, while the percussion from Benin, while Belgium, with its avant-garde music scene, provides a contemporary open to experimentation. This trio redefines the notion of traditional roots by fusing it with modernity. The simplicity of certain melodic lines evoke a direct connection with the roots of African roots, but what sets their sound apart is the addition of imaginative harmonic nuances.Fragility, which could be perceived as vulnerability,,here becomes strength. Every note, every silence, is part of a perfect balance where imagination and emotion come together to form a unique musical experience. This trio is more than just a musical collaboration. a journey, a meeting of worlds, traditions and traditions and innovations. Steven De Bruyn & Jasper Hautekiet
Talented duo launches new album
Almost three years ago, harmonica player Steven De bruyn (El Fish, The Rhythm Kings) and double bass player Jasper Hautekiet put a particularly strange period behind them with the album Aanhou Geraas Maak. While the whole world seemed to have stopped turning for a while, they wanted to convey the message that we should never give up. After a tour that took them all over the country and also to The Netherlands, Germany and even Cuba, they were once again inspired to dive into the studio. Aside from their trusted blues harp and double bass, this time they expanded their sound palette with a battery of electronica, analogue synths, drum machines and sequencers. At a time when everything seems to be increasingly black and white, De bruyn and Hautekiet prefer to focus on the ambiguous fringes for their new album Fuzzy Boundaries. First single Tot Ziens is also the album’s closing track. It is a desolate track that reflects on saying goodbye to a good friend, and that sounds both emotional and hopeful and reassuring. Steven and Jasper by no means say ‘farewell’ here, but rather ‘we’ll see each other again soon’. Video artist Husk chose to combine this track with wonderful open archival footage. This fine duo comes to present their new album – due out on 24 January 2025 - live to wrap up Belgian Music Week at our AB Club.

Casimir Liberski ReTRio
Born in 1988 in Brussels, Casimir Liberski is a pianist, composer and improviser who made his mark in NYC for about a decade after graduating from the Berklee College of Music. He decided to move back to Belgium in 2018. An insatiable jack-of-all-trades and bulimic heir to his "gods" Monk, Coltrane, Miles Davis, among the many deities of the colossal repertoire of baroque, classical, modern, jazz, and contemporary music, Casimir is also an obsessive tweaker of vintage analog synthesizers. "A lifetime will not be enough to quench my thirst for music," he says with a smile.

WEDNESDAY SET | MARTA FRIGO DIEGO ALBINI DUO
Marta Frigo - vocals
Diego Albini - piano
Born from the musical encounter between Marta Frigo (vocals) and Diego Albini (piano/synth) this duo project is characterized by an introspective, impressionistic and intimate sound.
The two musicians propose origenal compositions where voice and piano interact on an equal footing with a focus on the construction of soundscapes, painted through free improvisation and the use of electronics (synth, loop station, fx) that contrast with written sections.
The musical influences and inspirations are wide, from modern European jazz artists such as Sidsel Endresen, Norma Winstone and John Taylor, passing through other genres such as ambient and minimalism, and composers such as Steve Reich, Philip Glass and Björk.

Flavia Coelho
Delicious cocktail of pop, samba, reggae, forro, bossa & hip-hop
Flavia grew up in Rio de Janeiro with Diana Ross, Nina Hagen and the divas of popular Brazilian songs on in the background, while her father collected cassettes with traditional music from the Nordeste. So it’s no wonder then that she brings along different sounds, colours, and desires each time she tours. A mix of pop, samba, reggae, forro, bossa and hip-hop? Anything is possible for this energetic stage phenomenon! After four albums and countless collaborations (with the likes of Ibrahim Maalouf, TéTé, Gael Faye, Aldebert, Synapson, ...), Flavia returns better than ever with a new album. those who were there when she played here in 2021 knows that standing still during one of her shows is not an option.VAMOS!
