Snow Across the Great Lakes, Central Appalachians, and Northeast; Unsettled Weather in the West

Light to moderate snow will continue into Saturday over the Great Lakes, Central Appalachians, and Northeast. This weekend into next week, a series of atmospheric rivers will bring gusty winds, periods of heavy rain, and mountain snow to northern California and the Pacific Northwest. A High Surf Advisory is in effect until 4 PM Sunday for all Pacific Coast beaches. Expect large westerly swell with breaking waves of 20 to 26 feet, including breakers near 30 feet at favored spots such as Mavericks. These waves will bring life-threatening conditions to the bays, ocean, and beaches this weekend and into next week. Never turn your back on the ocean!
Dangerous and life-threatening beach conditions are forecast with very high surf, rip currents, sneaker waves, and coastal flooding through Tuesday for ALL beaches along the Pacific Coast. Very rough seas, breaking waves to 40 feet, and extremely dangerous conditions.
