Snow Across the Great Lakes, Central Appalachians, and Northeast; Unsettled Weather in the West

Light to moderate snow will continue into Saturday over the Great Lakes, Central Appalachians, and Northeast. This weekend into next week, a series of atmospheric rivers will bring gusty winds, periods of heavy rain, and mountain snow to northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Areas of fog and freezing fog have developed overnight across the Lower Columbia Basin and the Yakima/Kittitas Valleys as visibilities as low as a quarter mile or less has been observed. These conditions are expected to persist through the morning as Freezing Fog Advisories are active until 10 AM Sunday.
A rather active weather period is expected through the holiday week as several back-to-back systems will be parading through the Pacific Northwest, leading to areas of lower elevation rain, mountain snow, and breezy winds.
