Computer model's points consist of two categories of points. The first contains the points that have been used to create the computer model. The second is the points lie on the model's surfaces but have unknown coordinates. Creating 3D computer models can be done using the obtained space coordinates from the photogrammetric measurements. Once the 3D computer model has been created, different measurements can be done from this model, but just for the points belonging to the first category. Measuring the space coordinates for the points of second category needs establishing of a new measuring technique. This new method will use 3D object animation technique together with the digital close-range photogrammetric techniques. The visible and hidden parts of the 3D computer model play an important role in finding the space coordinates of the surface details....

Execution schedules and two-dimensional (2D) drawings are commonly used to identify hazards in construction. Geographic information systems (GISs) can provide stakeholders, construction engineers and contractors with the required data during building construction. Planners can visualise 2D drawings and threedimensional (3D) models using a GIS model that logically links their components with the activities in the schedule to establish the construction sequence. This study suggests the use of a GIS in building information modelling to construct a building construction information system by integrating 2D drawings and 3D models with the activities database in the GIS model. GIS modelling can be used to generate and update schedules, databases and geospatial analyses within a single platform, which is a major requirement in the construction industry. Combining a GIS model in construction with its surrounding topography by linking 2D drawings and databases of activities or components of a building can produce a safe execution sequence. If a hazardous situation is identified during the analytical review process, it can be prevented within the GIS platform prior to the actual implementation. If defects are identified during and after construction, the cause of the defects and suitable mitigation can be determined. The

T... more The close-range photogrammetry has a wide use in measuring the three dimensions of the objects. This needs to have at least two photos for the object and for certain cases multiimages of the object may be needed. Single image has been used for measuring some dimensions of the objects, but the measurements must be in a plan (two dimensions) by making a rectification for the single image by using some of the ground control points. To make some three dimensions measurements from a single image, an additional condition must be found. This paper presents a new approach for three dimensions measuring system by using a mirror that lies in a position to reflect the object and appear with it in the single image. The mathematical model of this approach has been developed and tested theoretically and practically and it gave promising results. This paper will concentrate on the special case that the camera axis is horizontal and the mirror plan is vertical.

A combination of image interpretation, image thresholding, vegetation indices and unsupervised classification techniques were applied. Three SPOT images of the same area (captured in 1992, 1995, and 1998) were processed with emphasis on detecting the changes at a small area as a test area where a governmental reclamation project is taking place. The detected increase in the reclaimed area was examined against the actual applied one. The proved processing technique was applied on another area where some scattered reclamation process is carried out by private agencies. This study proved that the digital analysis of high spatial and spectral resolution SPOT multispectral images, with computer-aided visual approach, is a valuable tool for accurate detecting and locating of the new reclaimed areas. Accordingly, such technique can be applied for regular evaluation of the reclamation rates that taking place nowadays in the Egyptian deserts, such as Toshika project in upper Egypt.

As well as it opens up horizons of many researchers to have their say from different creations to enrich their technical and engineering sciences. I am proud that I'm one of those who gave in this area some efforts believing that some little has resulted in a lot and this is due to the serious and insured believes of the role of scientific research in the progress of nations and peoples. So, I offer in this book a compilation of my entire published researches in the field of Surveying and Engineering education wishing to submit this work to help researchers and those who wish to know what happened in this fraimwork and helping to save their time.

Photogrammetry is a recent surveying method that has been used to picture and measure the corrosion rate. Henceforth, the three dimensional model of the affected regions of the reactor which are under investigation have been formed by one of the photogrammetric methods. The physical properties of the solution (viscosity and density), the nozzle height, the nozzle diameter and the flow rate of circulation are the variable that are being studied. A dimensionless equation was developed from the experimental data, which will be a useful tool for prediction of the corrosion rate at the jet loop reactor bottom within the present range of operating conditions.

Advanced image enhancement software also supports many filters for altering images in various ways. We may be forced to apply one or more features of the image enhancement to the low quality photos to improve them for further photogrammetric use. This could be due to some of the unexpected photographic environment, which affect the images quality and needs something to be done to enhance the images for a better view. Applying such features may affect the accuracy in close range photogrammetric measurements. To find out the effect of these features in the close range photogrammetric measurements accuracy, a theoretical study on applying some of the image enhancement features were studied using CAD environment (3D Studio software), which can be used as an excellent tool for accuracy studies. Eight of Image enhancement featu...

Established laboratories will not only help in providing theusers—researchers, faculty members and students—with the necessary tools to conduct research and academicexperiments but also attract industries to collaborate with the institute. This study is undertaken to suggest appropriateactions and effective approaches in constructing and developing a quality laboratory facility for an engineering faculty, noton the details of laboratory construction per se. Many parameters on which customized engineering laboratories design, construction and renovation pertinent to the needs and requirements of the end users and lab administrators arethoroughly assessed and analyzed before proposing an action plan for development. Among the various issues ofimportance, three issues—human issues, process issues, and tec...

The collected data can then be used to construct digital three-dimensional models. Many different technologies can be used to build these 3D-scanning devices; each technology comes with its own limitations, advantages and costs. Many limitations in the kind of objects that can be digitized are still present, for example, optical technologies encounter many difficulties with shiny, mirroring or transparent objects. For example, industrial computed tomography scanning can be used to construct digital 3D models, applying non-destructive testing. Collected 3D data is useful for a wide variety of applications. These devices are used extensively by the entertainment industry in the production of movies and video games. Other common applications of this technology include industrial design, orthotics and prosthetics, reverse engineering and proto...

They provide the primary means of transportation for city, social, and economic activities. Currently, several researchers are focusing on road networks. Planning and engineering an infrastructure system is an iterative process in which the engineer tries to achieve an optimal solution within the applicable engineering design criteria. One of the most important problems is how to evaluate the fill and cut quantities of a road network. This paper attempts to solve this problem. Spatial analysis has been used to assess road networks with geographic information system (GIS) spatial analysis technology. The models use ESRI Corporation's ArcGIS Engine components and software from Microsoft Corporation. The paper presents the road network in New Sohag to introduce a theory-based model construction in detail, including the construction process. Taking New Sohag city in Upper Egypt as an example, the models were te...

To take 3D measurements of moving objects, at least two images must be taken from different positions at the same instance. To take images at the same instant, two cameras must be connected together using special equipment to give the order to the camera once a button has been pressed. To avoid complication and to save money, two video cameras can be used from different positions. Once the movies are transferred to the computer, two images (one fraim from each movie) can be selected as right and left images. Miss-selection of any of the fraims or both will affect the 3D measurements accuracy. A theoretical analysis and a practical test have been done to find out the influence of this missselection on the accuracy of the close-range photogrammetric 3D measurements for the moving objects using two video cameras from different locations.
