Students must meet the University of Kentucky Graduate School requirements in addition to the following Program admissions requirements:

- Must have a minimum overall GPA > 3.0 (out of 4.0)
- Must have completed a minimum of 85 credit hours of the following coursework at the undergraduate or graduate level with a minimum grade equivalent of a “C” in all prerequisite coursework
- Update on Pass/Fail Grades for Spring Semester 2020 Prerequisite Courses: Many undergraduate institutions have moved to an online instruction model and Pass/Fail grading for the Spring semester 2020. The University of Kentucky Professional Master of Science in Athletic Training Program understands these changes are in response to the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The University of Kentucky Master of Science in Athletic Training Program will accept Pass/Fail grading for prerequisite coursework completed in the Spring semester of 2020.
- Prerequisite coursework must completed prior to starting the Professional Program. These courses do not have to be completed at time of application
- Biomechanics (3 credits)*
- Exercise Physiology (3 credits)*
- Human Physiology (3 credits)
- Human Anatomy (3 credits)
- Can be combined Anatomy and Physiology Courses (I and II, 6 credits total)
- Medical Terminology (1 credit or equivalent)
- Statistics (3 credits)
- Basic Emergency Care/First-Aid (1 or more credits on academic transcript OR completion proof of training through other mechanism e.g. Red Cross)
- Psychology (3 credits)
- Physics (3 credits)
- Biology (3 credits)
- Chemistry (4 credits including lab)
- Recommended but not required:
- Introduction to Athletic Training
- Research Methods/Scientific Writing

- Students applying to the UK PMATP are required to complete and document 100 hours of observation under the supervision of an Athletic Trainer.
- At least half (50 hours) must be completed in common athletic training settings (e.g. high school, collegiate or professional sports).

- When you investigated the UKAT Program, what aspects of the program aligned with your personal values and goals? What components interested you most?
- Tell us about the greatest challenge you have faced and how you have addressed that challenge.
- A list of three professional references
- Applicants must be certified in Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) at time of application AND at time of Program entry.
Acceptable forms of ECC should be in line with the Board of Certification (BOC) Requirements.
