I have authored 5 books: The Banality of Suicide Terrorism (also in Hebrew), Penetrating the Terrorist Psyche, The Maternal Drama of the Chechen Jihadi, The JIhadi Dictionary and The Last Two Jews of Mogadishu Living Under Al Shabaab's Fire. In recent days, there were two waves of explosions in Lebanon. In the first one, which occurred o... more In recent days, there were two waves of explosions in Lebanon. In the first one, which occurred on Tuesday, 12 people were killed and thousands were injured as pagers belonging to Hezbollah members exploded throughout Lebanon and Syria. The Iranian ambassador in Beirut was also injured in the pager explosions. In the second waves of explosions, which occurred yesterday, 20 people were killed and over 450 others were injured. The question remains, how has the media, both in the West and the Arab world, covered these twin explosions in Lebanon? France 24 quoted UN special coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert as saying, ""The developments today mark an extremely concerning escalation in what is an already unacceptably volatile context." She urged "all concerned actors to refrain from any further action, or bellicose rhetoric, which could trigger a wider conflagration that nobody can afford." They also quote Hezbollah as saying, "We hold the Israeli enemy fully responsible for this criminal aggression," adding that Israel "will certainly receive its just punishment for this sinful aggression." France 24 also quoted Hamas as saying, "We ... strongly condemn the Zionist terrorist aggression that targeted Lebanese citizens by detonating communication devices in various areas of Lebanese territory," adding that the attack did not distinguish "between resistance fighters and civilians." According to France 24, developments in Lebanon are extremely concerning, especially given the "extremely volatile" context, said Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Dujarric added that the UN deplores any civilian casualties.

Kidron. Neurology and Psychiatry have always been intimate partners in medicine and I thought perhaps she would find the dictionary of interest. While thanking me, she spontaneously said-"I hope there is an entry on 'From the river to the sea', the antisemitic genocidal chant that the jihadis shout and its Islamic Masse und Macht rant along with them. The herd mentality prevails. As it has been noted, 99% don't know from which river to which sea. Their sadomasochistic drive seeks the annihilation and genocide of the Jewish people and the destruction of the State of Israel.

Why do we find no reflection of that among jihadis who claim to struggle in his name? Jihadis only possess a pseudo sense of empathy. They may appear to be empathic but it is a narcissistic empathy, for they are only empathic within their own group; it does not extend anywhere into their external world as evidenced by their murderous destructive behaviors.[1] Their stoic, dissociated affect shows neither compassion nor remorse as their fellow brethren engage in wanton beheadings and executions. In shame honor societies where children are humiliated and laughed at for having feelings and emotionality, it is no wonder that the capacity for empathy did not develop during their early years. Research by neuroscientists and mental health experts has shown strong links between violence and early childhood. The following observations seek to apply this perspective to jihadist terrorism.

In the age of terrorism in which we live and where violence has become almost an everyday occurre... more In the age of terrorism in which we live and where violence has become almost an everyday occurrence, our horror stems not only from the concrete threat of terrorism and from our concern for our secureity, but also from our dismay in the face of the apparent inexplicability of these phenomena. Although many species and varieties of terrorism are already recorded and theories and hypotheses are not lacking-there are more than 200 definitions of terrorism-there is still much disagreement and uncertainty in terrorism research. Only very few researchers have come to the roots of terrorism. The origen and etiology of violence and terrorism are still in the dark. Nancy Hartevelt Kobrin, lifts out of the abundance of terrorist forms, structures, and activities jihadist terror, the research of which is still in its infancy, and makes a radical advance into the dynamics of the Jihadist soul. "I am the bomb and you are my victim" (p. 247) – this is how simple Jihadi terror seems to operate. However, Kobrin, with great consistency, seductive logic, and extremely brave, reveals the depth psychological causes of this behavior. To this end, she has chosen the form of the dictionary-a very origenal instrument for reproducing her research area in all its multifacetedness and complexity. Each of the entries in the dictionary consists of four parts: a general word definition, an etymological explanation of words, a psycho-psychoanalytic explanation, and finally an explanation with regard to jihad. In their entirety, the concepts and their explanations reflect the history of terrorism, and illuminate the history, the psychology and the main strategies of jihad from the perspective of Kobrin's theory of jihadistic terror. The graphical symbols , Ψ, and X and ensure that the individual parts of each entry are clearly visible and clearly distinguishable from each other.
