If you just recently installed iOS 15, you may have noticed that Safari has some significant design changes, but there are also a ton of new features you might not have noticed.

In our latest video, we walk through everything that's new in Safari, and it's well worth watching if you want to get the most out of Apple's browser. Make sure to check out our Twitter poll below, and let us know which Safari design you prefer.

For a more detailed rundown of all of the changes and how they work, we also have a dedicated Safari 15 guide.

Or flip the switch to restore Safari to the usable iOS 14 state.

*Or*, stay on iOS 14.
Best part of update is safari moving the address bar to the bottom.

Just wish they would display tabs from the bottom up instead of filling in from the top down.

The tab/address bar on the bottom just makes sense. Pretty much from the beginning of app development, we realized putting the controls at the bottom was better. I don't know how it took this long to move the primary controls of a browser to the bottom also. This is especially better for larger devices.

Still, it's nice to have the option for those who can't handle change.

I like having all the controls at the bottom but they need to work on making this as smooth as the old version was, for example getting to your bookmarks off the new tab, and closing tabs.
Very clunky as it is.
Don't understand why moving everything to the bottom means they had to change and add steps in how you get rid of tabs, start tabs and get into your favorites.

I do like having the Safari site control at the bottom… but it does get a bit confusing when the Google search box is at the top (when/if you use Google as your search engine)

Dan,
Greetings from Jackson Hole and thanks for the fly-over view of new Safari features! Love the subtle CLE connectivity too (Go Browns)! Wondering where to find out more about the iOS features that propel the new iPad Pro’s to their latest potential (safari and more); as well as more about what’s in store (rumors), like possibly a future for MacOS emulation?!
Many Thanks, MIKE (US class of ‘83).

Why does this remind me so much of snl?

Not a fan of how bookmarks are handled in default mode. I want the full list each time. Annoying to have to flick up to get that list. I just went back to having the address bar back to the top just to get that returned to normal.

QUESTION: can someone tell me what iCloud Tabs supposed to represent now on the Start Page? I’ve got everything syncing fine, but the iCloud Tabs are from not sure where (something old) and I can’t seem to get rid of them. Will prob just turn them off.

iCloud Tabs on my iPhone are links from websites I visited months ago on my iPad. Only junk.

Right. Same thing here. Should just turn them off.

But, honestly, am I fooling myself here thinking that Safari (on Mac) is going to get better. I’m mostly satisfied with Safari on iOS/iPadOS, but I try switching like twice a month to it on the Mac (previously for the better bookmark syncing, and now for the Tabs Group syncing) but man I keep finding things that just don’t work and make the switch a non-starter.

Oh and here’s another one: in instagram stories the video does not play (doesn’t work at all) although the sound does. Not sure if this is an Apple fail or an IG one.

Anyone else having serious issues with pinch to zoom on Safari 15? Not happening anywhere else on my iPhone but it’s really bad in Safari. I think it’s possibly because of the new tab swiping thing but it’s very frustrating.

What I don't understand is why you can't swipe between tabs when the address bar is at the top. I thought it would only change the position, not the behavior... oh well, it's quite good at the bottom.

iCloud tabs can get stuck in the cloud even if you have closed them. Common problem. I have had two on my Mac that I have closed but iCloud still thinks I have them open, so they show up on my iPhone and iPad. Tried everything and nothing works.

I really enjoy the bar at the bottom. So convenient. However, for my wife, I try to find a way to screen all tabs as in iOS 14. Do you know if it is possible?

I’d like to have my functional Youtube PIP shortcut back.
Hey! Created an account just to reply. Did you turn on “Allow Running Scripts” in the Advanced Settings under Shortcuts? I tried it myself right now and it worked.
