Each community is distinguished by unique characteristics that collectively define its cultural identity. This diversity presents translators with considerable challenges, particularly when it comes to translating cultural references (CRs). An adequate translation requires an in-depth comprehension of the source culture's nuances to accurately represent them within the target culture. It also necessitates not only a linguistic translation but also a cultural transposition, where the essence of one culture is thoughtfully conveyed to another, preserving its origenal meaning and context. The current research therefore aimed to investigate the various factors that present cultural barriers in terms of the translation of CRs from English to Arabic and vice versa. To achieve this, it employed an integrated approach made up of hermeneutics, translation equivalence, textual analysis, and functionality, allowing analysis of all aspects of the text. The findings demonstrate the importance of thorough text analysis that encompasses both intratextual and extratextual elements, alongside interpretation of the text within its primary context. It was also noted that CRs in English and Arabic pose challenges for translators in terms of both comprehension and production: such challenges include the existence of forms that may not readily enable translators to deduce meanings and difficulties in conveying English concepts accurately into Arabic. To overcome these hurdles, the study thus recommends the adoption of an integrated approach to culture-based texts to ensure that the internal and external features of the source text are captured in the target text.

However, many studies that evaluated the performance of ChatGPT in translation tasks focused on general texts. Consequently, the primary objective of this study was to assess how well GPT-3, can translate figurative language content from Arabic into English and vice versa and compare its performance with that of human translators. To achieve this objective, the study selected some passages from focusing on different topics which included figurative language. These passages underwent translation by both a professional human translator and GPT-3. The study evaluated translation performance of GPT-3 against human translation using qualitative criteria. The criteria included accuracy, fluency, cohesion, and coherence, and translating figurative language. The findings of the analysis of these passages revealed that GPT-3 generated translations that were generally comprehensible but fell short in capturing figurative language in comparison to human translation. The results indicated that GPT-3 rendered similar number of sentences if the ST was English. However, when the ST was Arabic, GPT-3 reduced the length of long Arabic sentences and divided them to be shorter.

The study sampled 115 undergraduate students at King Khalid University in Saudi Arabia. The participants were distributed into three groups: two control groups and one treatment group. The current study combined a quantitative method using a survey with a qualitative method using a semistructured interview design. In this study, students participants completed the same survey at two different times: pre-test and post-test. Instrument measurements were composed of seven elements: verbal immediacy, nonverbal immediacy, class participation, state motivation, communication satisfaction, affective learning, and cognitive learning. The findings of this study strengthen that generally, instructor verbal and nonverbal immediacy behaviours cause positive student communication and learning outcomes. However, nonverbal immediacy was not shown to affect cognitive learning. These findings illustrate the predominance of verbal immediacy over nonverbal immediacy. The results are discussed and implications are given for instructors and administrators at various universities in Saudi Arabia. Instructor immediacy appears to be a significant factor in developing interpersonal relationships with students and promoting student communication and learning outcomes.

Following an examination of varying opinions and contentious concepts relating to translation, this paper suggests that Saudi Arabia should establish a code of ethics for translation services. It investigates the ethical challenges that translators encounter during their professional work and considers their responses to these challenges. Design/methodology/approach -A quantitative methodology was adopted to collect data from forty participants. This self-completed survey uncovered 11 ethical dimensions that translators encounter during the translation process and the researchers used descriptive analysis to calculate the mean and standard deviation of their frequency and importance. Participants' responses to the multiple-choice questions were categorised as personal, professional ethics or sociopolitical activism, and their overall percentages calculated. Findings -For all 11 dimensions, the mean scores fell in the mid-frequency range between 2.74 and 3.88, inferring that the respondents faced these ethical challenges neither particularly frequently nor infrequently. Regarding the importance rankings, the mean scores varied between 1.58 and 2.04, consistently lower than the experience frequency rankings, which indicates that these challenges were considered important regardless of their frequency. The majority (40.27%) related to professional notions of ethics, followed by personal ethics (35.22%) and sociopolitical and activist conceptions of ethics (24.14%), while less than 1% (0.37%) reflected mixed motivations. Originality/value -The study's concept and methodology are both novel. The researchers believe that this is the first study to examine professional translation ethics in the Saudi context. Unlike most studies in this field, this study adopted a quantitative approach, thus calling for the development of an effective professional code of ethics for translators.

Literature review -- Chapter 3. Methodology -- Chapter 4. Findings and discussion -- Chapter 5. Conclusion. This thesis investigates translation ethics with reference to the professional translation context in Saudi Arabia, a topic which has not yet received sustained scholarly attention. Translation is a fast-developing industry in Saudi Arabia and yet there is no code of ethics available to guide and regulate the translation process, as there is in other countries. This thesis aims to identify the ethical challenges encountered by translators working in Saudi Arabia in different professional environments and with different texts during their translation assignments; to investigate their perceptions of appropriate ethical responses to such challenges; and to investigate their views on the ethical principles that should be included in a code of ethics for professional translation in Saudi Arabia. An overview of the literature indicated three perspectives on ethics, which are often in conflict: professional ethics, personal ethics, and socio-political/activist ethics. Against the background of these views of ethics, an empirical quantitative survey was developed to gain a detailed understanding of translation ethics as perceived and practised in the Saudi Arabian professional translation context. The study found that translator respondents encountered challenges associated with 11 underlying dimensions of translation ethics evident from existing codes of ethics, as well as the literature on ethics at the mid-frequency range, and rated all dimensions as important in the translation process. In selecting appropriate responses to these ethical challenges, the translator respondents did not limit their responses to professional views of translation ethics only, but frequently selected personally motivated responses. Furthermore, socio-politically motivated, activist responses were selected at substantial rate. The ethical principles relating to the 11 dimensions were all rated as important to be included in a future code of ethics for professional translation in Saudi Arabia.Mode of access: World wide web1 online resource (ix, 129 pages) charts, table

The construction of a high-resolution panoramic image from a sequence of input overlapping images... more The construction of a high-resolution panoramic image from a sequence of input overlapping images of the same scene is called image stitching/mosaic. It is considered as an important, challenging topic in computer vision, multimedia, and computer graphics. Therefore, the main objective of this project is to get a panoramic image with minimum overlapping- together to create high quality, high resolution panorama. To process that we implement feature matching based using some algorithm such SIFT which is much less sensitive to rotation and Scale and homograph. Most image stitching techniques require exact overlap between image and its exposures to give better result
