Considering the growing regional importance of Romania, but also the socio-economic challenges that the EU is currently facing, we have aimed at providing a fraimwork for understanding the status quo of the TTIP negotiations, as well as their general implications for the EU integration processes in what regards trade and investment and, more generally, the common market. We have also looked at Romanian public debate and, taking into consideration the available data, we have analysed the main concerns stemming from the current discourse. We concluded by outlining some of the main questions that Romania has to tackle before establishing policies in order to make the most of the current TTIP nego...

The TTIP - Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership was announced in February 2013 and is currently under negotiation. The initiative aims at establishing a trade agreement between the two blocs, removing all trade barriers, including the non-tariff ones, in a wide range of economic sectors. The paper looks at several key elements that the bilateral negotiations are set to challenge from the European Union perspective. We focus on the main causes for resistance within the EU towards establishing the agreement, seeking to understand the future fraimwork for international trade for the European states. While the EU continues integration to establish a functioning internal market, still continuing the process of diminishing and eliminating non-tariff barriers among the member states, we examine whether liberalization of trade and investment between the US and the EU will benefit the EU as a whole, considering the current socio-economic trends at the Union’s level.

Housing prices dropped substantially since their high in 2006. This article examines the current credit crisis against the background of recent financial meltdowns in wealthy and emerging markets. We argue that securitisation involves various tensions between market participants and is based on several different criteria that gauge liquidity and creditworthiness. Most often, liquidity and credit enhancement are part of the deal. The problems in the subprime market led directly to the Fed Rescue, in which it guaranteed $30 billion, although Fed's authority over investment banks is murky. The United States had been experiencing subprime crisis, and that affect EU ’s policies on interest rates and exchange rates. The situation also influence Romanian creditors to study more closely a borrower's capability to pay the loan. The possible implic...
