Yet, it has rarely been reported that SSRI treatment has unfavorable effects on hemostasis. The most frequently reported side effects of SSRIs on the hematologic system are prolonged bleeding time, impaired thrombocyte aggregation and activity. Here we present a case in whom ecchymotic lesions occurred with esscitalopram and fluoxetine, which disappeared with reboxetine. [Cukurova Med J 2015; 40(Suppl 1): 90-93]

These combinations reflect the need for more rigorous research on the common pathways which these different therapy orientations may be utilizing, and one way to identify these pathways would be to investigate some core assessment tools or conceptual foundations of these two different approaches. Aim: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the relationship between defense mechanisms and cognitive distortions, and to identify the mediating role of cognitive distortions between defense styles and depression. Methods: A total of 342 female psychiatric outpatients aged 18 and older were recruited. A diagnostic interview and rating of the depression severity were undertaken, and the Cognitive Distortion Scales and the Defense Style Questionnaire were completed by the participants. Hierarchical regression analyses were conducted to test for the direct and indirect eff...

Literature point out that professional competences are an important personal protective factor enhancing teacher resilience. It also appears that teacher reflection is fairly significant in professional development process. This doctoral study sought to explore the relationship between teachers' resilience and reflection on practice. Twenty-three teachers from seven underprivileged schools participated in this mixed method study. They were invited to complete a quality of work life questionnaire and a daily stress diary, and to participate in a semi-structured interview. The analysis has highlighted four resilience profiles among these teachers: 1) very resilient, 2) resilient, 3) somewhat resilient, and 4) non-resilient. Vertical analysis of four representative cases according to their reflection has shown that low resilience seemed to be related to an increased emphasis on the problems instead of the solutions, and on the environmental instead of the personal reflective contents, and inversely. Despite its limits, this study reveals evidence of empirical relationships between teacher resilience and reflection, and highlights avenues for professional development, and ideas for future research.

Procedure-related complications included pseudoaneurysm (n ¼ 1 [0.6%]), thrombosis (n ¼ 1 [0.6%]), distal embolization (n ¼ 1 [0.6%]), and death (R6, n ¼ 1 [0.06%]). At a mean follow-up of 17 months, CFA restenosis was observed in 29 patents (17.4%); these underwent further percutaneous (n ¼ 13 [7.8%]) or surgical (n ¼ 16 [9.6%]) revascularization that included femoral endarterectomy (n ¼ 4 [2.4%]) or femoral-popliteal/tibial bypass (n ¼ 12 [7.2%]). Major or minor amputations were observed in none of the R3 patients, and in only three (3.9%) and five (6.6%) of the R4 to R6 patients, respectively. When compared with the atherectomy with or without PTA group, patients in the PTA-only group had a significantly higher incidence of female gender (43% vs 24%), diabetes (49% vs 29%), hypertension (89% vs 76%), and restenosis requiring secondary interventions (21.9% vs 5.3%; P < .01). Conclusions: Data from this largest study to date would suggest that percutaneous CFA interventions in select patients appear to be relatively safe and effective. Female gender, diabetes, and hypertension negatively impact risk of restenosis, whereas atherectomy with or without PTA reduces re-stenosis risks significantly. A randomized controlled trial is warranted.

Depending on their content and meaning, NATs are associated with specific emotions, and since they are usually quite brief, patients are often more aware of the emotion they feel. This relationship between cognition and emotion, therefore, is thought to form the background of the cognitive content specificity hypothesis. Researchers focusing on this hypothesis have suggested that instruments like the cognition checklist (CCL) might be an alternative to make a diagnostic distinction between depression and anxiety. Objectives: The aim of the present study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the CCL in a psychiatric outpatient sample. Patients and Methods: A total of 425 psychiatric outpatients 18 years of age and older were recruited. After a structured diagnostic interview, the participants completed the hospital anxiety depression scale (HADS), the automatic thoughts questionnaire (ATQ), and the CCL. An exploratory factor analysis was performed, followed by an oblique rotation. The internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and concurrent and discriminant validity analyses were undertaken. Results: The internal consistency of the CCL was excellent (Cronbach's α = 0.95). The test-retest correlation coefficients were satisfactory (r = 0.80, P < 0.001 for CCL-D, and r = 0.79, P < 0.001 for CCL-A). The exploratory factor analysis revealed that a two-factor solution best fit the data. This bidimensional factor structure explained 51.27 % of the variance of the scale. The first factor consisted of items related to anxious cognitions, and the second factor of depressive cognitions. The CCL subscales significantly correlated with the ATQ (rs 0.44 for the CCL-D, and 0.32 for the CCL-A) as well as the other measures of mood severity (all Ps < 0.01). To a great extent, all items of the CCL were able to distinguish the clinical and non-clinical groups, suggesting the scale has high discriminating validity. Conclusions: The current study has provided evidence that the Turkish version of the CCL is a reliable and valid instrument to assess NATs in a clinical outpatient sample.
