A faculty-directed education abroad program is a University of Kentucky course designed and led by UK faculty or staff abroad. 

  • Guidance from UK Faculty on-site
  • Participate with UK Peers
  • Short term programs: Winter, Summer, Embedded Fall/Spring Semester
  • Earn UK credit that counts towards your UK GPA

  • Examine how marginalized communities fuse Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) with social institutions and organizations to create Alternative Sociotechnical Infrastructures (ASIs). 
  • Explore the local scene in Oaxaca, a hub for traditional Mexican art, music, dance, and cuisine. 
  • Deepen your understanding of the intricate relationships between information technology, society, and social justice.

Strategic Communication for Businesses in a Global Society

Strategic Communication in South Africa: Promoting to the Rainbow Nation

Program Highlights

  • Explore issues of disparities in socioeconomic status from the perspective of integrated marketing communication and strategy.  
  • Engage with local nonprofits in Cape Town to compare communication plans and their influence. 
  • Develop real-world experience through building communication plans for local entities.
  • See some of the highlights of South Africa's Western Cape Province, including Table Mountain, Robben Island, the V&A Waterfront, District Six Museum, Boulders Beach Penguin Colony and the Cape of Good Hope, among others
