A QUICK DOSE OF NEWS FROM UK COLLEGE OF PHARMACY

#THANKBLUE FOR YOU! Every year we take a week in November to show our appreciation for the pharmacy family that helps make Kentucky the premier place for pharmacy practice and research. We began #thankblue week to celebrate the generosity of the UKCOP family and find ways to pay it forward. During #thankblue week this year, we launched our White Coat Challenge for the incoming class and look forward to sharing the stories of our newest pharm fam members.

Your support means students can pursue their dreams with less financial debt, travel to conferences and study-abroad locations, and, of course, don their first White Coat.  For all of that, we #thankblue for you.

IN & AROUND THE COP

  • The annual UKCOP Student Advisory Council (SAC) Movie Night is this week. This all-college event includes cookie decorating, fresh popcorn, and your favorite holiday movies. Friends and family are welcome. Tickets are $5/person and can be purchased at the event.
  • This year, the College has sponsored a table at Feast on Equality in honor of Josh Couch, the late partner of Drew Ritzel, our (fantastic) Coordinator of Student Success & Wellness. Feast on Equality is the biggest event of the year to support the mission, programs, and services of the UK Office of LGBTQ* Resources and we proudly support their efforts.
  • Lexington’s city-wide science festival, spearheaded by the College of Pharmacy, just announced its theme for 2020! Everything is Science: Life in Technicolor will be coming to the Bluegrass February 24-28. Stay tuned for more info and follow EiS on Instagram and Twitter.
  • The 10th Annual TODD Symposium was a terrific success. Winners of the poster session and elevator pitch competition can be found here. All photos of the event are on our Facebook page.
  • Payton Atkins (Class of 2023) was selected to represent the UK Athletics Department and their partnership with Special Olympics at the SEC Championship Football game in Atlanta, GA this month. Payton helped initiate this partnership and was a co-captain of the UK Women’s Soccer Team.
