Science and Engineering Research Space at Academic Institutions Totaled 240 Million Square Feet in FY 2023

The nation's research-performing colleges and universities added a reported 4 million net assignable square feet (NASF) of science and engineering research space over the last 2 years, rising from 236.1 million NASF in FY 2021 to 240.2 million NASF in FY 2023. The reported increase in FY 2023 research space was the third lowest since FY 1990.
