Tutorial text: Search for an author and view their profile
Last updated on August 15, 2024Welcome to a Scopus video tutorial on author search.
In this example, you are looking for documents published by Ha-na Lee.
You begin by selecting Authors and type in her last and first names.
If you knew her affiliation or ORCID number, you could enter them too. They are especially helpful when searching for more common names.
You can find further search suggestions in Search tips on the right side of the screen.
In this example, you only know her name so you select the Search button.
You are interested in the first author profile that is displayed but, from the list of results, you see that other documents associated with additional profiles may also belong to her. In a separate tutorial, you will learn how author profiles are created.
For the moment, you decide to review the first author profile listed by selecting the name.
The author details page allows you to access a list of her documents, view the citations she has received and know her h-index.
As you scroll down the page, you can also access a list of citing documents, co-authors and Topics she has contributed to.
Now, to ensure you have captured her full body of work, you return to your results set and select other profiles that you think may be the same person.
If you were sure they were a definite match, you could Request to merge authors.
For now, you decide to select “Save to author list” so that you can come back to the selection again in a future session.
If you weren’t already logged in, you’d need to do so in order to first, name, and then save the list to your profile.
You can also add your selection to existing lists.
To access your saved other list, navigate to your initials in the top right corner, then saved lists and select the authors tab
Select the saved list and select all to view a list of documents and citation overview for the multiple profiles.
