Dear Competitors and Coaches,

It is my pleasure to invite you to the 2025 J.W. Patterson Tournament of Champions, one of the most prestigious events in high school Speech & Debate. Hosted at the University of Kentucky, this tournament brings together the best talent from across the country. For many, the Road to the TOC is the culmination of a year’s worth of dedication, hard work, and passion for the art of argument and persuasion. The path to qualification is not easy, but those who have earned their place here have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence.

The Tournament of Champions is not just a competition; it is a celebration of the skill and intellectual vigor that define Speech & Debate. Throughout the weekend, you will engage in rigorous rounds with some of the most talented debaters and speakers in the nation. More than just a contest, the TOC offers a unique opportunity to grow and challenge yourselves in an environment that fosters both personal and academic development.

We are proud to host this event in honor of our founder, Dr. J.W. Patterson, and are excited to see the energy and enthusiasm you will bring to Lexington, Kentucky. Your participation not only honors the legacy of those who came before you, but it also cements your place in what makes this tournament so special. World Schools Debate Application Link

NEW this year: World Schools Debate will be offered! This year will be an application process, and we will welcome up to 30 teams. Teams can be domestic or international. Schools or international programs may apply for up to 3 different teams. To apply as a WSD team for the 2025 TOC, a coach or director should fill out the application form linked above.
