Carey Rubin completed his first season as an assistant coach in 2023-24.

Rubin’s first season in staff was a wildly successful one for the program, as Kentucky played to a 27-3 overall record, it’s fewest losses in a season since 1970. Rubin helped guide the Cats to both the regular season and tournament titles in the SEC, just the second-time Kentucky has won both conference crowns in the same year, with the first coming in 1992. As the No. 5 overall seed, Kentucky won three matches in the NCAA Tournament to advance to the quarterfinals before falling to the eventual National Champion, TCU.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Rubin previously served as a volunteer coach at UK in 2011 when the Wildcats reached the NCAA quarterfinals before falling to eventual national champion, USC. Rubin returned as a volunteer coach once again last fall. He is a former player at Kentucky, a member of the team from 2005-06.

Following his collegiate playing career, Rubin spent two years playing professionally. He then began working as a hitting partner and traveling coach with some of the top players on the WTA Tour including Grand Slam winners, Venus Williams and Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Olympic Gold Medalist, Monica Puig and NCAA Singles Champion, Peyton Sterns.
