Marginal Errors - A New RPG Magic System
A downloadable Spell Book
Marginal Errors is a recipe and ritual based magic system that takes the form of an in game object the players could discover in their fantasy RPG world.
A retro inspired, rather worn, magical textbook by the well respected professor of alchemical studies Herbert Bogg. A collection of over 120 spell and potion recipes that players can recreate in their games if they gather the, often rare and dangerous, ingredients.
This particular copy however is scrawled and edited with annotations in the margins and throughout, tweaking and modifying the recipes to produce varied and random results.
If players choose to follow these annotations they roll on random tables to reveal the results.
This is a fantasy setting object but has been designed to work with any system the GM is running.
I’ve included some test screenshots of a few of the pages to give a flavour of what the book will be about and I am hoping to fund the project through a kickstarter a little later in the year.
If this might be something you would be interested in leave a comment below, id love to get some feedback on what people think of the project so far.

This is insanely cool, is there any new progress?
It’s been tweaked and changed a bit when I’ve been feeling inspired. I felt it needed a bit more depth to it.
I’m hoping to finished it off early this year though (commitments permitting!). Keep your eyes peeled.
Definitely keen on seeing how this progresses!
I'd love to follow this project
Sounds very interesting!
Love the aesthetic! But I think it could benefit from an alternate version with medieval fantasy-styled cover and typefaces. This is something I would pass around the table, but it would feel out of place in my vanilla fantasy setting.
(there is no download button!)
Yup, just a few images for right now as the project is still very much a work in progress! Just posted something as a bit of a test and to maybe get some initial feedback.
Oh OK! Thanks!
