The fragility of this tissue is associated with a risk of skin necroses of approximately 8% when dissection is performed by reopening of the mastectomy scar. Objectives The objective of this study was to adapt the technique of short-scar latissimus dorsi flap surgery with an abdominal advancement flap employing a lateral approach only avoiding re-incision of the mastectomy scar. Methods In this retrospective study, the authors performed 150 reconstructions in 146 patients to assess the safety and effectiveness of the short-scar latissimus dorsi technique with lateral approach. The primary outcome was the occurrence of postoperative skin necrosis of the thoraco-mammary area. Results Of the 150 delayed breast reconstruction procedures performed, none showed skin necrosis of the thoraco-mammary area, and a positive effect on skin trophicity of this area was o...

It is a frequent pathologic condition, in which the whole nipple, or a portion of its, is buried inward towards the lactiferous duct and lies below the plane of the areola. Numerous strategies have been described to correct nipple inversion. All the procedures have the purpose to give a good shape to the nipple, preserving its function and sensitivity, when it is possible. To avoid recurrences and to obtain good aesthetic results, we present a modified percutaneous technique. We performed a retrospective study between 2011 and 2016 and included all the cases of inverted nipples treated in our department. Our modified percutaneous technique consists of a minimal incision supported by a percutaneous suture as a temporary spacer to fill the defect caused by releasing the fibro-ductal bands. A total of 41 cases of inverted nipples were corrected in 32 patients. After 1 year of follow-up, no recurrence was observed and all nipples m...

Its most important innovation is building upon the Linux kernel for the programmable unit. LEGO has also open sourced the firmware, allowing an easy extension. Programming for a robot can give engineering students much more practical experience with technical problems and improve the learning motivation. This was the reason to include the EV3 at the university's computer science course in the studies for Mechatronics, which utilises ANSI C as the programming language. As there was - until now - no possibility to program the robot in ANSI C, an Application Programming Interface, an Eclipse plug-in and an uploader were developed. Main criteria was an easy handling of these tools. In this paper the plug-in and its integration into the computer science course is presented.

This model requires one person to fill the roles of reporter, videographer, and video editor. The authors used a web-based survey of MMJs in the top 50 U.S. markets to gauge their reactions to—and the professional consequences of—working alone as opposed to working with a videographer. The results suggest many large-market reporters see the MMJ model as an inevitable outgrowth of advances in technology and increased news competition. However, they also lament that the trend leads them to believe they’re producing lower quality journalism. Most of the respondents say they are less satisfied with their jobs and some have considered quitting the business.

EnglishIts an investigation work that has two different parts: the first one, which is theoretical, explains the factors that influence the choice of a degree in general, and especially the decision of choising a teaching degree, through the studies that have been done in Spain as well as in other countries. The second part is about an investigation focussed on the teaching degrees students, and futures teachers, in Huelva. In this second part, we could see the factors that make the students study a teaching degree: social, economical, cultural, academic, vocational factors, etc., what will help us to contrast them with the studies done until nowadays, and we could know how and why do the factors change or not.

Gams & D. Hawksworth (S. o-2 y S. o-4) in dual culture. The action modes in the different interaction phases was determined by comparing the growth of Sarocladium colonies. The data were analyzed using Student's t test. With isolates S. o-2 and S.o 4,competition by the substrate was shown by 81,48% of the Trichoderma isolates, 25,93% antibiosis and 11,11% mycoparasitism. Two Trichoderma isolates (T.4 and T.5) against the isolate S. o-4 showed the three antagonism types, whereas against S. o-2, they showed only competition for the substrate. This is an evidence of sensitivity variability of the phytopathogen isolates against the antagonist. Among the Trichoderma isolates, T.29 ,with a marked antibiotic effect, and T.6, with more than two antagonism types, were the most promising against both pathogen isolates.

The data confirm that CA reduces offense (threat and attack) in animals when both subjects receive the material but that CA has no such action in other pairings. This suggests that CA's major suppressive effect on "hostility" is expressed in mice via a reduction in "attack-promoting" pheromone production. Indeed, there was evidence in the more chronic study that CA, could augment (via a central mechanism?) offense in subjects paired with docile anosmic opponents. Changes in defense were largely responses to variations in the degree of attack to which animals were subjected. The antihormone also had actions on other aspects of behavior including sexual activity, social investigation and immobility in such tests. CA had a potent suppressive action on the weights of sex accessory glands. The data do not suggest that CA can be used as a specific antihostility agent.

Material and methods: The experiment was carried out in two phases. The first one compared direct suture of a critical defect in the sciatic nerve of ten rats, with the interposition of autologous muscle graft, denatured by heat, in another ten. The second phase compared ten rats with nerve repair using an acellular muscle graft, with injection of 2 cc of IGF-1 (10 mg/ml mecasermin, injectable solution) into the acellular graft of another ten. A clinical and functional follow-up was carried out including, ambulation, footprint measurement, and ''Grasping Test''. The animals were sacrificed at 90-100 days, and samples obtained for macro-and microscopic studies with toluidine blue, hematoxylin-eosin and Masson's trichrome staining. Results: The first experiment showed the characteristic findings of nerve tissue in muscle graft level sections. The second was an enhancement of the results: post-surgical clinical improvement, early ambulation, decrease in the rate of pressure ulcers in toes, recovery of the footprint, and increasing the percentage of nerve endings in distal sciatic regeneration (from 47 to 62%). Conclusions: In this study the experimental and clinical possibilities of nerve defect repair by denatured muscle are demonstrated, confirming the suitability of the technique. Furthermore, it confirms our hypothesis with clinical and cellular determinations enriched by the addition of growth factors that promote nerve regeneration.
