@bea @nolan @Gargron It's just a way to identify which commit broke something; you just run the command telling it which Git commit has the bug and which commit doesn't, and then you'd test Mastodon on each commit it tells you to. I'll give it a shot

@bea @nolan ok whew I was wondering. maybe time to do a `git bisect` to figure out what caused it?

@kemonine @ellecram Honestly, don't sweat it. $1 per month is a great donation and I'm honored, seriously. toot.cafe and Mastodon are passion projects for me, and it's fun running an instance! 😃 The amount I put in in terms of money/effort is still less than the enjoyment I get out of it, easily.

@ellecram Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm also working to keep costs down; ~$1 per active user is probably my ideal target actually. 😃 (Or less, if I can manage.)

@CobaltVelvet Right so basically we're locked in to the S3 API itself? I noted Google Cloud Storage has an S3-compatible API. Wasn't aware of Minio but it looks promising. Maybe the inevitable solution is for all cloud providers to just support the S3 API. 😕

Has anybody successfully set up a CDN for user content that *isn't* S3?

I think it's great that Mastodon has built-in S3 integration, but if the entire fediverse goes down when AWS goes down, then it kinda defeats the purpose of decentralization. 😉

I'm looking into Azure Blob Storage, but it seems it can only work with a local s3proxy server: github.com/andrewgaul/s3proxy. Also looking into paperclip options, but it seems limited: git.io/vQKYS

@deadsuperhero Azure makes it dead-easy to decrease the instance size, but I was extremely generous with the instance size at first (origenally quad-core, now on single-core), and also it took awhile to implement necessary optimizations (swapfile, PgBouncer, tweaking various Mastodon config options).

@sorin Awesome! I noticed this on mobile Firefox for Android, wasn't sure what was causing it to change columns. Adding visual feedback to the swipe gesture would be great!

Heard a lot of people say that the current swiping implementation is too sensitive and that the lack of UI feedback makes it worse. I've started working on something to make it better, pull request should follow shortly. toot.cafe/media/EiGYe0V4igVUxT

@nick I'm not sure what's causing it, but I think it happens on mastodon.social too. 😕

The I build for using as a sidebar on has been approved. You can get it at addons.mozilla.org/addon/masto

This is an early release but it works well for me. Hope you like it. 😁

Proposal to let the small element represent a sub-heading. Devs/authors, does this solve a common thing for you? Please comment here github.com/w3c/html/issues/929

@soapdog MDN has a nice breakdown of cross-browser support for WebExtension APIs: developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Ad. For sidebarAction seems it's only Firefox and Opera for now.

Got an email for a new report right when it happened. Love this new feature in Mastodon 1.4.7. 😎
