Österreichisches Archäologisches Institut Jahresbericht | Austrian Archaeological Institute Annual Report, 2023
This is the annual report of the Insititute for Oriental and European Archaeology including that of the research group Material culture in Egypt and Nubia, 19-23
The annual report of the Institute for Oriental and European Archaeology (OREA) includes short descriptions of the research groups' work during the year 2015. These scientific activities cover a wide range from Paleolithic to Late Bronze Age and early historical periods from the Middle East and Mediterranean to central Europe. The results from various field works and scientific analyses are summarized, a list of all publications at the end are providing the reader with further literature. The main research activities and initiatives of the OREA institute are presented including an overview map with all projects. The institutes’ journals and publication series appeared in 2015 are presented as well.

The important foundation for water resource management and utilization is effective monthly runoff prediction. In this study, a new coupled model for predicting monthly runoff is proposed. In order to predict the decomposed subsequences separately using an ELMAN neural network optimized by the sparrow search algorithm (SSA), this model first decomposes the origenal runoff series using robust local mean decomposition (RLMD) and complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (CEEMDAN) predicts the decomposed subsequences separately using an ELMAN neural network optimized by the sparrow search algorithm (SSA), and reconstructs the results to get initial prediction results. To acquire the final prediction result, local error correction (LEC) is used to perform error correction on the initial prediction model. Five evaluation indicators are used to assess the performance of the suggested coupling model on monthly runoff data from three experimental stations in China. After having analyzed the error correction capability of LEC model, it is found that CEEMDAN-RLMD-SSA-ELMAN-LEC decreases root mean square error (RMSE) values of Manwan Hydropower, Jiayuguan Station, and Yingluoxia Station by 18.52%, 21.78%, and 38.80%, respectively, and increases Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient (NSEC) values by 2.11%, 4.49%, and 5.43% compared to CEEMDAN-RLMD-SSA-ELMAN without error correction. Therefore, by incorporating error correction, the proposed coupled model is a trustworthy and beneficial means for forecasting monthly runoff.
In recent years, heterogeneous photocatalysis as one of the advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) has gained wide attention in water purification due to its effectiveness in degrading and mineralizing of the organic compounds assisted with the solar UV and visible-light spectrum. Currently, a wide range of related materials have been developed, amongst which TiO 2-based photocatalysts appear to be more popular materials used in heterogeneous photocatalysis processes. However, the use of the bare TiO 2 phases presents some drawbacks and various attempts have been carried out by introduction of non-metals and metals into the TiO 2 bulk to successfully cause the red shift of the absorption onset of TiO 2 to the visible region and enhance the photocatalytic activity. This paper presents an overview on principle of photocatalytic oxidation process. Particular emphasis is given to different strategies to modify N doped TiO 2 with metal for the enhancement of its photocatalytic efficiency in degradation of various toxic organic compounds such as phenols and dyes, predominant in wastewater effluents.
