Journal of Bone and Joint Infection, 2020
We present the first reported case of prosthetic joint infection caused by Trueperella pyogenes. This animal pathogen rarely causes human infection. Our patient was successfully treated with single-stage exchange and 12 weeks of rifampicin and moxifloxacin.
Assessment is recognised in the literature as a driver of student learning; framing how they engage in and prioritise their learning. With this growing recognition, a plethora of literature has emerged about how to improve student experiences of assessment in universities. While the development of higher order skills of analysis, synthesis, evaluation and creation are espoused in the literature of good assessment practice, how well represented are they in the teaching and learning practice of academics? This paper reports on the environmental scan undertaken as part of a wider study into the use of technologies to support assessment of higher order learning at an Australian university. The scan surveyed 133 academic staff to canvass the scope of the learning outcomes being addressed and how they were being assessed. The initial findings from the scan indicate a predominance of lower order learning outcomes, raising questions about academics' understanding of: • The processes underpinning higher order learning • The design of learning outcomes to include a focus on higher order learning • The development of assessment strategies to support higher order learning The challenge for academics in engaging students more actively in their learning lies in addressing the predominance of lower order and the paucity of higher order outcomes at all levels, from first year to post-graduate level.
The academic position o f Sociology is seriously threatened by the steady decline o f student enroll ment. Although we concentrate on Dutch Sociology, we think this problem is o f world-wide sig nificance. We suggest an explanation for this lack o f attractiveness that takes the incompleteness of the discipline' s professional identity as the main cause. Sociology never succeeded in defining and securing a professional role for its practitioners outside academia. This unfortunate fact is sustained by three routinely invoked principles that seem self-evident to most sociologists, but that are never theless exceptional among the social sciences: (1) Value-freedom ( the discipline does not aim at pro viding a normative basis for practical advice); (2) Scientism (an approach towards knowledge pro duction and diffusion that is heavily oriented to the natural sciences and neglects the relevance of cumulated practical experiences); (3) Unboundedness (the idea that Sociology can build its identi ty on a specific approach, or a specific method, instead o f a clearly demarked domain). We argue that Sociology, in order to establish a complete professional identity, should choose the 'primary social order' as its proper subject and direct its efforts towards the enhancement o f social welfare. A route o f ten practical steps towards professionalisation is proposed.

Let G be a simple graph with n vertices, and λ 1 , · · · , λ n be the eigenvalues of its adjacent matrix. The Estrada index of G is a graph invariant, defined as EE = i e n i 1 ,, is proposed as a measure of branching in alkanes. In this paper, we obtain two candidates which have the fourth largest EE among trees with n vertices.

Diachronic cartography and one sediment core in the Bergeggi-Vado Ligure area (NW Mediterranean Sea) were used to assess, respectively, short-term and long term evolution of the Posidonia oceanica meadow. A preliminary evaluation of its economic value has been performed.
