Stroboscopy: It is based on talbot law. According to it, physical images linger on retina for 0.2 seconds after exposure. Therefore, sequential images produced at interval <0.2 seconds produce the illusion of a continuous image. It involves use of a strobe light which is linked to the ...

Background The method of stroboscopy of the larynx makes it possible to examine the movement of the vocal cords, through periodic illumination. Most often electronic videolaryngostroboscopes are used. They allow visualization of the vocal cords. Methods The research is conducted using a certain technique. The patient sings a certain vocal, in a tonality that is comfortable for him, and by means of a microphone, the energy of the sound signal is electronically converted into light. Through laryngostroboscopy, patients are examined before and after prosthetic treatment, to assess voice capabilities. Pathological processes or functional dysphonias can also be established. Results and discussion There are two possibilities for visual perception when analyzing the phonatory oscillations of the glottis: Frozen, still image of vocal fold movement and A moving image (delayed movements of the vocal folds). Laryngostroboscopy can aid the determination of important questions related to the physiology of voice function, as well as assessment and prognosis of voice capabilities before and after prosthetic treatment. Conclusions Laryngostroboscopy is used to study the nature of functional disorders of the voice, preliminary differential diagnosis of benign and malignant neoplasms of the vocal cords, to evaluate the results of treatment, to determine the ability of people to work, the profession that is associated with a large vocal and vocal workload and studies the problems of voice physiology.

Effect of modified bipolar tonsillectomy on postoperative pain, 2021
Background: Tonsillectomy is commonly performed otolaryngological operation. It can cause considerable pain in children. Different types of tonsillectomy are described in the literature. Modified technique of bipolar tonsillectomy can significantly reduce postoperative pain. Objective: This study aimed to assess postoperative pain in children after modified bipolar tonsillectomy. Methods: 120 patients, age 6-12 years, were selected for this study. Indication for tonsillectomy was a history of recurrent tonsillitis. Spetzler-Malis bipolar forceps (tip size 0.5 mm) with low energy (5 W) was applied. We tried to preserve the pillars as much as possible. Pain was assessed on 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th and 10th postoperative days. The pain was evaluated with visual analogue scale (VAS). Results: On the first day of the operation 114 patients (95%) had no pain, 6 patients (5%) had mild pain, on the third postoperative day in 95% pain was mild, in 5% pain was moderate, on the fifth postoperative day pain was mild in 84 patients (70%), 36 patients (30%) had moderate pain, on the seventh postoperative day 95% of patients did not present pain, 5% of patients had mild pain. On the tenth postoperative day no one had pain. None of them presented nausea, vomiting, otalgia or severe pain. Conclusion: Low energy electrocautery, direct cautery to the tonsillar bed and preservation of the mucosa are all effective measures that have diminished post-op pain in bipolar dissection.

Classical Mechanics, Second Edition, 2013
Special Relativity is taught to physics sophomores at Johns Hopkins University in a series of eight lectures. Lecture 1 covers the principle of relativity and the derivation of the Lorentz transform. Lecture 2 covers length contraction and time dilation. Lecture 3 covers Minkowski diagrams, simultaneous events and causally connected events, as well as velocity transforms. Lecture 4 covers energy and momentum of particles and introduces 4-vectors. Lecture 5 covers energy and momentum of photons and collision problems. Lecture 6 covers Doppler effect and aberration. Lecture 7 covers relativistic dynamics. Optional Lecture 8 covers field transforms. The main purpose of these notes is to introduce 4-vectors and the matrix notation and to demonstrate their use in solving standard problems in Special Relativity. The prerequisites for the class are calculus-based Classical Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism, and Linear Algebra is highly recommended.
The accelerated growth of aquaculture industry in the past decades has resulted in environmental damages and low productivity of various aquatic organisms including fish, which seriously need for increased using of dietary probiotics in aquaculture practices. Thus, the present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of the graded levels of a newly dietary probiotic Hydroyeast Aquaculture® on morphological, anatomical of sexual maturation and histological characteristics of the gonads of both sexes of adult Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus for 8 weeks. A total of 240 fish (120 males and 120 females) were separately distributed into eight homogeneous treatments as 0 (T 1 , as a control), 5 (T 2), 10 (T 3), and 15 g Hydro yeast Aquaculture ® Kg 1 diet (T 4) for males and the same levels of tested probiotic (T 5 as a control, T 6 , T 7 , and T 8) are being for females. The obtained results revealed that both fish sexes fed the different levels of tested probiotic achieved the positively effects on the gonads morphological, anatomical and histological forms compared to fish fed diet free probiotic. Based on the obtained results, it could be concluded the valuable addition of 15 g Kg 1 diet (T 4) and 10 g Kg 1 diet (T 7) of Hydroyeast Aquaculture ® for adult O. niloticus males and females, respectively to enhance the morphological, anatomical of sexual maturation and histological characteristics of the gonads, which consequently lead to realize the sustainability and increase the profitability in the fish hatcheries.
