Biblical Accuracy in Linguistic and Archelogy Studies
Theologian Bible scholars have, through archeological findings of written artifacts, accurately
concluded the Earth as approximately 6,000 years old. This discovery is in direct correlation with
the archeology findings in the Middle East of written linguistic artifacts. Researchers and
archeologists have both discovered language developing around 3200 BC. Based upon this
finding alone, it is more sensible to conclude that the Earth should be compared to Biblical
history as opposed to secular beliefs that the Earth is aged to the tune of 4.5 Billion years.
Archeologists have recorded the first means of written communication in 3200 BC by the
Sumerian scribes. These Babylonians would document astrological findings on tablets in wedge
shaped writing also known as cuneiform. The date of 3200 BC is estimated to be around 5,200
years ago. If the secular theory of evolution was correct, and the Earth was created 4.5 billion
years ago with humanity beginning to evolve 315,000 years ago, the finding that humans started
to interact and exchange written communication just 5,200 years ago is far from realistic. Why
would it take humans 310,000 years to start communicating in written language? Biblical history
dates the Earth to be only 6,000 years old- with a mere 800 years until written proof of human
interaction through the Babylonian cuneiform writings were first written.
There are two theories according to secularists of how language could have been formed –
gradually, also known as the Continuity theory, and the Discontinuity theory, where language is
known to develop suddenly. According to the Continuity theory, language gradually developed
from ape like grunts and squawks into more vocalized words and phrases. In contrast, the
discontinuity theory argues that language is regarded as so complex, that it has developed
abruptly from humans since there is no evidence of human language with the “ape- cousins” or
primates 150,000 years ago. Regardless of either theory, the time span of over 100,000 years
which humanity was without communication until written cuneiform in 3200 BC is highly
questionable.
The Babylonian cuneiform was not the only discovered case of written communication within
civilizations during this period. Around this time, people from the middle east, and Eastern Asia
also had documented records and artifacts of written communication. Indus script was
discovered around 3500 BC (discovered in India), Sumerian and Proto-Elamite cuneiform 3100
BC, (discovered in Iraq and Iran respectively), and Proto Egyptian hieroglyphics in 3300 BC
(discovered in Egypt). As these findings in relation to the Babylonian cuneiform writings were
so closely dated, scientists have disputed over this period of which these languages were first
developed. In closing, according to archeologists through linguistical findings, it is far more
probable that the Biblical records are accurate than what the time periods of which the secular
theory have recorded.
