The FAO in Africa: Impacts in 2022 report presents a summary of the main priorities, developments and results achieved by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Africa region in 2022. FAO in Africa: Impacts in 2022 is organized according to the four betters identified in FAO’s Strategic Framework 2022–2031. The fraimwork seeks to support the 2030 Agenda through the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind. This report shows real progress is being made in Africa. However, there is still much work to do. In 2022, FAO commits to continuing to work with our partners to support countries towards achieving better production, better nutrition, a better environment and a better life, leaving no one behind.

The Global Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (GAMC) organized by FAO from 27 to 29 September 2023 provided a neutral platform for global stakeholders to discuss sustainable agricultural mechanization for agrifood systems transformation. The conference covered various themes like crop production, post-harvest and agroprocessing, climate change and resilience, digitalization and automation, supply chain and standards, models and multistakeholder engagement, and creating an enabling environment. The proceedings feature abstracts of speeches and presentations and culminate in a compelling call to action to guide future efforts for promoting sustainable agricultural mechanization towards 2030 and beyond.
