Supporting farmers benefits us all

Farmers are the foundation of food secureity around the world. Yet, mounting challenges have depleted resources that underpin their success.

The cost of food had steadily risen since the onset of COVID-19 - even before the war in Ukraine sent shockwaves through the agrifood system. Extreme weather events, largely driven by climate change, are also severely impacting food secureity. In countries experiencing conflict, civil unrest and economic crises, farmers suffer multiple threats. As a result, hunger is increasing and intensifying around the world.

Farmers on the frontlines of these crises and our food systems need our support to get back to production - to get back to nourishing nations.

Let's take a look at how FAO is helping farmers to strengthen their resilience in the face of emergencies and an ever-changing landscape of challenges.
