Alexander R. Gaos, PhD
Dr. Alexander R. Gaos is a research marine biologist with the Marine Turtle Biology and Assessment Program at the NOAA Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center, where he uses his extensive experience deploying satellite telemetry technologies, implementing molecular genetic tools, working with coastal community members, and developing field projects to help lead research programs throughout the region. He has managed marine turtle nesting beach surveys, in-water monitoring, and fisheries bycatch reduction programs in countries throughout the Pacific Ocean since 2002. Alexander is the Co-Founder and former Director of the Eastern Pacific Hawksbill Initiative (ICAPO). Alexander attained a Master’s degree in Biology from San Diego State University (SDSU) in 2012 and a PhD in Ecology as part of the Joint Doctoral Program in Ecology with the University of California Davis and SDSU in 2017.
