Whether you are new to these issues or a seasoned activist, come join us! Here's the plan:
- 2:00 PM: Meet at the Starbucks on Pennsylvania and 3rd SE (237 Pennsylvania Ave SE, Washington, DC 20003). The closest Metro station is Capitol South on the Blue and Orange lines. FSF Campaigns Manager Zak Rogoff will meet you there.
- 2:30 PM sharp: leave for the Copyright office, which is in the Library of Congress's Madison building right next door.
- 3:00 PM: estimated finishing time
Please RSVP to Zak at campaigns@fsf.org. We'd appreciate if you could include your phone number to make coordination easier, but an email alone is also fine. If you have a camera and would like to do photography, please let us know!
For a little more background: for years, the FSF's Defective by Design campaign has been engaged in a struggle to strike the anti-circumvention provisions from the DMCA. In December, the Copyright Office finally started to listen, issuing a public call for comments on the implementation of the law. Unfortunately, they refuse to accept our comment in any way other than through a proprietary JavaScript program, so we're delivering it in person.
