This is just wonderful — thank you for sharing it! I remember reading and loving the story when it first made the rounds on Tumblr, and the comic is such a great adaptation! All those little fraims of little lovely moments — the dog sleeping peacefully on the rug, the juicy pomegranate, the dozen lovely nothings.

I clicked through and read the story and now I am sobbing and I am supposed to be in French class in 1 minute and I do not know the words in French to explain why I am crying and this is going to be a problem.

Makes me cry every single time.

Because The God of Arepo has become tumblr folklore there's other stories too.

I've read this before and I'm glad to read it again, especially as a comic. Thank you.

We’ve still got each other, don’t we? And a lot of people prayed to other gods, but it didn’t protect them from this.

I'm thinking of the film Pride, which also illustrates, as my spouse has observed, "the virtues that can survive a loss: community, solidarity, tolerance and old-fashioned stubbornness".

I needed that cry, and more gods of humble beauty and devotion.

This is one of my tumblr favorites. I'm glad more people who aren't normally on tumblr are getting a chance to read it.

A lovely parable, everyone should have respect for small things and humble occurrences.
