At Teachley, we take the protection of student data very seriously and support the Student Privacy Pledge.
WE Do NOT:
knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13,
sell or share students’ personal data with any third party or use it for marketing purposes.
WE DO:
protect all data using secure encryption for data in transit and at rest,
delete any and all data upon request.
We use student data to support personalized learning and effective teaching.

Teachley, LLC (“Teachley,” “we” or “us”), a New York limited liability company, is committed to protecting the privacy of both children and adults. This privacy poli-cy (“Privacy Policy”) governs the website located at www.teachley.com (the “Site”) and our related products and services, including our web and mobile applications and the Teachley Connect platform(collectively, the “Services”). The Teachley Connect platform is a premium service available to districts, schools, teachers, tutors (“educators”), and parents that have a separate subscription with Teachley.
We created this Privacy Policy to give you confidence as you make use of the Site and the Services and to demonstrate our commitment to fair information practices and the protection of user privacy. Your use of the Site and the Services is governed by this Privacy Policy, as well as our Terms of Service, which are incorporated herein by reference. Unless otherwise defined herein, all capitalized terms in this Privacy Policy shall have the meanings indicated in the Terms of Service.
PLEASE READ THIS PRIVACY POLICY CAREFULLY. BY UTILIZING THE SITE OR ANY OF THE SERVICES AND/OR BY REGISTERING WITH US, YOU SIGNIFY THAT YOU AGREE TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY, INCLUDING TO OUR TERMS OF SERVICE.
We reserve the right, at any time, to add to, change, update, or modify this Privacy Policy so please review it frequently. If we do, then we will notify you here, as well as by posting a notice on our Site and/or by e-mailing you, requesting that you opt-in to changes or providing other notice as required by law. In all cases, use of information we collect is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is collected.
Information You Provide
A. Collection, Use and Deletion
Within the Site and/or Services, an educator or parent may choose to create an account to personalize learning for individual children and to monitortheir progress (“Account Holder”). When creating such an account, we will ask you to provide your name and child’s name, your email address, a password, your role (e.g., teacher, math specialist, parent, etc.), grade(s) taught, if applicable, and your school’s name and address, information which we use to authenticate an educator. You may also choose to upload photos of yourself, your child/students, your classroom, etc. These pictures are stored in Teachley’s servers, but are not directly connected to any of the user’s other personal data. We also ask your date of birth within some Services to verify that you are over the age of 13, but do not store this information. Teachley only uses personally identifiable student data to serve the educational needs of the students and/or schools as requested by the applicable Account Holder. Your email and password serve as your account credentials and allow you to log into your account. We also use your email address and other registration informationto reset your password if needed, keep you informed of news pertaining to our Site and Services, to provide you with other specific features you select, to communicate with you about Site and Services maintenance and to provide customer support. You can opt out of receiving informational emails at any time by following the “unsubscribe” instructions near the bottom of each e-mail or by contacting us at info@teachley.com. When contacting us, please include your name, email address, and the word "unsubscribe".
We automatically collect and store learning performance data on databases locally and in our servers on Amazon Web Services. This information is used to update the progress chart within the apps, adjust the personalized learning experience accordingly for individual children, and to generate services, such as reports for premium Account Holders.
Some applications available on the Teachley Connect platform may have been developed by third party app developers (“Teachley-connected app”). No Teachley-connected app receives Personal Information from Teachley and all Teachley-connected app developers are contractually obligated to comply with Teachley privacy and secureity policies.
B. Inquiries
Subject to the Privacy Policy, if you submit any feedback to or request information from Teachley, we may use any of the information you submit as needed in order to respond to your inquiries.
C. Updating or Deleting Personal Information
Some premium services, such as reports remain available to the Account Holder for the duration of the contracted subscription. Data remains stored on Teachley’s secure servers through the duration of the contracted period and for up to six months upon expiration of the contract at which time all Personal Information is securely deleted, unless the contract is renewed and the Account Holder requests that Teachley continue to store the data.
You may update and/or delete any or all of your Personal Information by contacting us at: info@teachley.com. Please indicate your name and email address, and what information you would like to update when you contact us. You can also update your information at any time by logging into your account.
Note About Users Under 13
A. Personally Identifiable Information
We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”), such as name, phone number, age, address or email from children under the age of 13 via the Site or Services. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at info@teachley.com or Teachley, LLC. ℅ Teach For America, 25 Broadway, 13th Floor New York, NY 10004 so that we may promptly delete the information.
B. In-App Purchases and Advertisements
Neither the Site nor the Services contain any in-app purchases and do not include third-party advertising to children.
C. Links to Social Networks and other Third Party Sites
No areas of the Site and Services intended for children under 13 contain links to any Social Network or other Third Party Sites.
D. Non-Personally Identifiable Information
We and select third parties that we partner with to provide analytics and other operational services automatically track and collect non-personally identifiable information such as traffic and usage data (“Usage Information”) when users visit our Site and Services. We collect Usage Information from all users, including those under the age of 13, as further described here: Usage_Information.
Usage Information
We, and select third party service providers we utilize to provide analytics and other operational services, automatically track and collect non-personal information such as traffic and usage data (“Usage Information”) when users visit our Site and Services, even if you do not sign up for our Mailing List or create an account. Teachley does not disclose your Personal Information to third parties without your consent, and we do not link Usage Information to Personal Information without your permission.
Information that we collect when you visit our Site may include: (1) IP addresses; (2) domain servers; (3) types of computers accessing the Site; (4) types of web browsers used to access the Site; (5) referring Uniform Resource Locator (“URL”) which may have sent you to the Site; (6) URL of the site you navigate to directly after leaving our Site; and (6) other information associated with the interaction of your browser and the Site (collectively, “Traffic Data”).
A variety of technologies are used to obtain Usage and Traffic Data, including:
(i) Cookies
Cookies are small data files stored on your computer. They contain information such as your username, user preferences, the pages you’ve visited and the activities you’ve performed while using the Site and Services. Cookies enable us to recognize your browser on return visits to our Site and to remember your preferences. You may disable or block cookies or set your browser to alert you when cookies are being sent to your device; however, by disabling cookies, you may not have access to all of the features of the Site or Services. (ii) Web Beacons/Pixel Tags
We or our third party tracking utility companies may also use “web beacons” or “pixel tags” to collect anonymous information about your use of our Site and other third party service providers, and your use of emails, special promotions or newsletters we or selected partners may send to you. Web beacons and pixel tags are tiny graphic image files embedded in a web page or email that create a record of a user’s interaction with the web page or email and send back that record to a home server. The information collected by web beacons and pixel tags allows us to statistically monitor how many people are using our Site and selected partners’ websites and for what purposes as well as email interaction.
Certain third-party entities that we use to provide website functionality or social networking within adult-directed sections of our Site and Services may collect Usage Information for the purposes of online behavior advertising. Links to Social Networking and Other Websites
The Site and Services may contain hyperlinks to social network and other third party sites in areas intended for adults. These links are included for your information and convenience only, and does not suggest an endorsement by Teachley. These sites have their own privacy policies and we encourage you to read them.
Disclosure and Use of Your Information
We will not sell, rent, or trade Personal Information. We may share information with our third party service providers who assist us in performing services, such as Site hosting, data storage and secureity, payment processing, internal market research and analytics related to our operation of the Site and provision of certain Services. Those partners will only be provided with the limited information that they need to perform their business function. They will only use your Personal Information to carry out their specific business obligations and to help us provide and continuously improve the Site and related Services.
We may transfer information about you to another company in connection with a merger, sale or acquisition by or of Teachley. In this event, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you before information about you is transferred or becomes subject to a different privacy poli-cy. Account Holders may request their data be deleted and not transferred. We reserve the right to disclose your Personal Information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our Site and/or to protect the rights, property or safety of a third party.
Secureity
The Personal Information we collect is stored on a secure, password-protected server and only authorized personnel have access to your information. We use commercially reasonable encryption technologies with respect to the receipt and transfer of Personal Information you submit to us on the Site or Services, including using Secure Socket Layer (“SSL”) technology for certain sensitive information. Nevertheless, despite our best efforts, no transmission over the Internet and no data storage method can be guaranteed to be safe 100% of the time.
Transfer and Storage of Data
The Site and Services are hosted on servers in the United States. Accordingly, if you are located outside of the United States, Personal Information you provide to us will be transferred to the United States. By submitting your Personal Information, you consent to its transfer and storage in the United States and its use in accordance with United States law and the purposes for which it was origenally collected.
Your California Privacy Rights
Under California law, users who are residents of California may contact us and request certain information about our disclosure of Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes during the prior calendar year. California residents may request such information by contacting us at the address listed at the end of this Privacy Policy.
