The world’s Least Developed Countries (LDCs) are in a race to deliver crucial global development goals by 2030. Against this backdrop, the 5th United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries will be held in two parts: the adoption of the new Doha Programme of Action in New York on March 17, 2022 and the main conference in Doha, Qatar on 5-9 March, 2023, which will identify actions and partnerships to deliver on this agenda.

The Ocean Conference

The Ocean Conference will take place on 27 June to 1 July in Lisbon, Portugal. Co-hosted by the Governments of Kenya and Portugal, the Conference will be a game-changer in reversing the decline in the health of our ocean. While the ocean generates 50% of the oxygen we need, nurtures unimaginable biodiversity and produces food, jobs, mineral and energy resources needed for life on the planet to survive and thrive, the ocean is facing unprecedent threats because of human activities.

The Conference is expected to propel much needed science-based innovative solutions aimed at starting a new chapter of global ocean action.
