Fernando Ortega is an Ecuadorian Medical Doctor, with a Master´s degree in Cultural Anthropology, and PhD in Public Health with mention in Community Health and International Health (Global Health), from Oregon State University. He also received a diploma in Ethnomedicine from Université de Bordeaux II (France), and a diploma in Research Bioethics from UNESCO.
Currently he works as a full time Researcher and Professor in the College of Health Sciences at San Francisco de Quito University, where he founded the Institutional Bioethics Committee (IRB). For 23 years he was a member of the neuroscience research team at Harvard Medical School (United States), with which he has published 37 scientific publications.
