PRECIPITATION AT DULUTH MN...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR DECEMBER WAS 10.5 DEGREES WHICH WAS 4.3 
DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 14.8 DEGREES. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE 
FOR THE MONTH WAS 43 DEGREES ON THE 2ND. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS 
26 DEGREES BELOW ZERO ON THE 31ST. NO DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE 
BROKEN FOR THE MONTH. 18 DAYS HAD AVERAGE TEMPERATURES BELOW NORMAL. 

DECEMBER 2017 WAS BELOW NORMAL FOR PRECIPITATION WITH A TOTAL OF 
0.83 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION RECORDED FOR THE MONTH. THIS WAS 0.38 
INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 1.21 INCHES. THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF 
PRECIPITATION IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD OCCURRED ON THE 12TH TO THE 13TH 
WHEN 0.23 INCHES WAS RECORDED. AT LEAST A TRACE OF PRECIPITATION WAS 
RECORDED ON 27 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.01 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL ON

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE MONTH WAS 10.6 MPH. THE WINDIEST DAY 
OF THE MONTH WAS ON THE 5TH WITH AN AVERAGE WIND OF 24.0 MPH. THE 
HIGHEST SUSTAINED WIND OCCURRED ON THE 5TH WITH A SPEED OF 36 MPH 
OUT OF THE WEST NORTHWEST. A PEAK WIND GUST OF 47 MPH OUT OF THE

HIGHEST SEA LEVEL PRESSURE FOR THE MONTH WAS 30.79 INCHES REACHED ON

ZERO. NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR JANUARY IS 0.96 INCHES. NORMAL 
SNOWFALL FOR JANUARY IS 19.4 INCHES. THE LATEST CLIMATE PREDICTION 
CENTER OUTLOOK INDICATES THAT THERE IS A 40% CHANCE FOR BELOW NORMAL 
TEMPERATURES AND A 33% CHANCE FOR BELOW NORMAL PRECIPICATION.

MONTH WAS 40 DEGREES ON THE 2ND AND 3RD. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS 
37 DEGREES BELOW ZERO ON THE 27TH. TWO DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORDS

DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 15.3 DEGREES. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE 
FOR THE MONTH WAS 47 DEGREES ON THE 2ND. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS 
30 DEGREES BELOW ZERO ON THE 27TH. TWO DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORDS 
WERE BROKEN FOR THE MONTH. ON THE 27TH A RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE WAS

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR DECEMBER WAS 13.3 DEGREES WHICH WAS 5.1 
DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 18.4 DEGREES. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE 
FOR THE MONTH WAS 48 DEGREES ON THE 3RD. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE WAS 
19 DEGREES BELOW ZERO ON THE 31ST. ONE DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORD WAS 
BROKEN FOR THE MONTH. ON THE 31ST A NEW COLDEST DAILY MAXIMUM WAS 
SET 7 DEGREES BELOW ZERO. THIS BROKE THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 5 
DEGREES BELOW ZERO SET BACK IN 2013. 19 DAYS HAD AVERAGE 
TEMPERATURES BELOW NORMAL. MINIMUM TEMPERATURE ON THE 19TH AS WELL 
AS THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE ON THE 20TH HAD TO BE SET TO MISSING DUE 
TO AN AREA WIDE POWER OUTAGE THAT AFFECTED THE ASHLAND ASOS SITE.

OF THE MONTH WAS ON THE 5TH WITH AN AVERAGE WIND OF 19.2 MPH. THE 
HIGHEST SUSTAINED WIND OCCURRED ON THE 5TH WITH A SPEED OF 33 MPH 
OUT OF THE WEST. A PEAK WIND GUST OF 45 MPH OUT OF THE WEST 
SOUTHWEST WAS RECORDED ON THE 5TH. 

THERE WERE 1500 HEATING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE MONTH WHICH WAS 56 ABOVE 
THE NORMAL OF 1444. THERE WERE 0 COOLING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE MONTH
