Overview
A long-duration snowfall occurred starting after midnight on December 11 and ending around 3 am on December 12. A low pressure system over the Central Plains moved northeast over Lower Michigan on December 11 allowing a southerly flow to bring moisture over the region. With cold air in place, the precipitation fell as all snow through the entire event. Snow began as fluffy with temperatures in the low 20s early on December 11. Temperatures then slowly rose to the low 30s near the end of the event causing snow to become wetter. Total snowfall accumulations generally ranged from 8-11 inches across Southeast Michigan.Snow
