
Amber Helene Müller St. Thomas
Amber Helene Müller St. Thomas (b. 1986) is a Canadian artist based in Toronto. Their artistic practice is based in developing performative and disruptive actions that include interactive elements of touch and multifarious queer gestures. They primarily work in lens-based media and performance art. They are interested in communal interaction, materiality, tactility, desire, and the potential for objects to function as both symbols of self and surrogates for intimacy.
Müller St. Thomas holds a BFA from Western University and completed their MFA at York University. They were a beneficiary of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Master’s Scholarship (2016). Exhibitions include: A National Test Market, (Artspace) curated by Jonathan Lockyer, Hamilton Now: Subject, (Art Gallery of Hamilton) curated by Melissa Bennett, Presently (Art Gallery of Peterborough) a juried exhibition, and art( i f)ACTS (Gales Gallery in affiliation with the AGYU) curated by Belinda Kwan.
They were selected as a participating artist for the 2018 Hamilton Supercrawl Arts Festival and as a participant for the Dissenting Bodies Marking Time, Venice International Performance Art Week, Co-Creation Live Factory 2020 organized by VestAndPage with the generous support of the European Cultural Centre (ECC) Italy. In 2020 they performed as part of Pi*llOry 3, curated by Holly Timpener and produced with the generous support of FADO Performance Art Centre. They have been accepted to the 2021 Cleaning the House Workshop organized by the Marina Abramović Institute in Athens, Greece.
