Kid-Free Activities to Enjoy in Door County - Bay Shore Inn

Kid-Free Activities to Enjoy in Door County

A Door County vacation can be as relaxing or as adventurous as you want. It can be time away with friends, a family outing, or a romantic weekend with your partner. There are options for everyone and every group. Here are some of our favorite kid-free activities.

Grab a Drink in Door County

Of course we have to talk about our favorite wineries and breweries if we’re talking about activities for adults visiting the area. Door Peninsula Winery is located just north of Sturgeon Bay. Their wines made from locally grown fruit, like cherries, apples, strawberries, and plums, are some of our favorites. Just across the street is Red Oak Winery, a locally owned winery where during a tasting you can pick five wines to try from their semi sweet, fruit wines, dry whites, dry reds, and dessert wines. A little further out of town is Simon Creek Vinery where guests are invited to enjoy a wine tasting and live music during the summers. Their Untouchable Red and Door County Cherry wines are a must-try!

For beer enthusiasts, head to Bridge up Brewing to see what specialty brews they have on tap. Their flagship beers are all great and have fun connections to Door County! Starboard Brewing Company should also be on your list of stops. Door County’s first nano-brewery has a unique lineup of craft beers you can pair with some of Wisconsin’ favorite snacks that they serve. And for a little more adventure, grab a seat on the Foxy Pedaler, a 14-person, pedal powered bar on wheels. You can book a group tour or grab a spot on a mixer tour.

Get out on the Water in Door County

Being a peninsula, there’s water all around which makes it the perfect adventure and spot to explore with a group of friends. Peninsula Kayak Company offers kayak tours of Cave Point Park, the bluffs of Peninsula Park, or the secret wetlands of the Logan Creek State Natural Area. They also rent paddleboards, single and tandem kayaks, and e-bikes.

Experience the Arts in Door County

Miller Art Museum in Sturgeon Bay is home to the world’s largest collection of artwork by Gerhard CF Miller, a locally beloved artist and the most influential artist from Door County. In addition to Miller’s art, the museum also houses an extensive collection of regional art. For theater lovers, you have to head up to Fish Creek to see a show at the Peninsula Players Theatre, Door County’s professional theater presenting Broadway-quality comedies, dramas and musicals. The theater performances, which have been running for 89 seasons, take place in an all-weather pavilion that offers a unique experience perfect for an outing with friends.

Hit the Stores in Door County

Who doesn’t love a day of exploring local shops when hanging out around town with friends! In Sturgeon Bay there are so many great places to check out — from antiques and treasures at Door County Traders to a quilt shop, clothing, books, jewelry, art, candies, toys, and gifts all along Third Avenue. If you’re looking for some wine or beer to bring back to your Bay Shore Inn suite, head to Madison Avenue Market.

And don’t forget to check out the Sturgeon Bay Farmers Market if you’re visiting on a Saturday from June through mid-October. They have vendors selling local produce, plants, specialty food, clothing, accessories, art, crafts and more!
