Mauna Loa Solar Observatory Observer's Log ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sun Dec 18 17:13:32 GMT 1994 Year: 94 Doy: 352 Observer: yasukawa WEATHER COMMENT: Sun Dec 18 17:13:49 GMT 1994 Cold, southeast wind 20-30 mph, sky looks very white and shiny near sun. May be thin, structureless cirrus or volcanic haze. Sun Dec 18 17:20:46 GMT 1994: Patrol Start DPMON COMMENT: Sun Dec 18 17:28:27 GMT 1994 Halle runaway a few minutes ago reset by resetting Plessey. MKIII COMMENT: Sun Dec 18 17:48:41 GMT 1994 MKIII coronal image is highly polarized by the bright sky. Sun Dec 18 18:02:58 GMT 1994: Calibration Sun Dec 18 19:00:02 GMT 1994: Calibration MKIII COMMENT: Sun Dec 18 19:30:44 GMT 1994 Sky polarization still very high. Got calibration but removed coronal image from HISTORY database due to poor sky. So far we have a NMAP-only yellow dot. Sun Dec 18 20:02:56 GMT 1994: Calibration DPMON COMMENT: Sun Dec 18 20:25:07 GMT 1994 LLikely Daystar runaway. Reset Plessey. Sun Dec 18 20:26:57 GMT 1994: Patrol End Sun Dec 18 20:27:18 GMT 1994: Patrol Start DPMON COMMENT: Sun Dec 18 20:27:26 GMT 1994 Stopped patrol to move objective module, but it seems that it was just a HIN/HOUT runaway and not the objective wheel. Sun Dec 18 21:00:57 GMT 1994: Calibration DPMON COMMENT: Sun Dec 18 21:35:39 GMT 1994 Dayastar runaway. reset Plessey. Sun Dec 18 21:39:06 GMT 1994: Patrol End Sun Dec 18 21:39:50 GMT 1994: Patrol Start DPMON COMMENT: Sun Dec 18 21:43:22 GMT 1994 Crash wiped the objective wheel also this time, which was cleared manually. Then go a BUSY stall so did a Clearbusy to clear the Camera. MKIII COMMENT: Sun Dec 18 21:47:28 GMT 1994 Caught the ADRs overshooting a bit, causing obscuration of part of the FOV at each ADR adjustment. Turned the ADR off for now. It is almost the end of the shift and the bright sky is still not gone. Polarization has been reduced a bit but is still present in coronal scans. Calling an NMAP-only yellow dot for the day. Saving data tape anyway.
