The control PC wasn't running the correct program so I had to start that up, that cured the communications problem I had with the PSPT. Typing "init sys" cleared the strange dome state and it would no longer runaway after that. To avoid this problem everytime we need to point the dome manually, we came up with a solution that should work well, the dome will now be pointed to the South at the end of observations which puts it into a position where we can open the shutter without having to point the dome manually in the morning or afternoon. The last problem is that the data disk isn't mounted properly on the Sparcstation, we're still working on that one. PSPT COMMENT: Sun Dec 14 18:34:05 GMT 1997 Haosheng wanted to know at what time the sun clears the bottom shutter door in the morning. It is just starting to peak above the door into the FOV of the instrument. Since the data are degraded early in the morning and it is a hassle to open and close the bottom door it may work out that we don't need to open and close that door anyway. The sun should rise above that door even earlier during the rest of the year since we are almost at the Winter Solstice right now. PSPT COMMENT: Sun Dec 14 18:58:09 GMT 1997 We couldn't fix the problem that is preventing the data disk from mounting, Haosheng will contact a Systems Manager to look into the problem, then they will get back to us. Other than that it looks like everything is working and ready to observe. We have cirrostratus anyway today, so no big loss. I don't know who could and would help us from Boulder, maybe Peter Fox? I'll ask around and see who is willing.
