Could not get laptop to talk with the switch on Tuesday. Moved it to router to check if switch was problem. Could not connect there either so problem is with laptop COM port configuration. Bunny reported problem with router and requested a power cycling. Did that. Jason contacted me and we plugged the PC's (io) COM port into the router and that worked. Jason walked me thru changing the router config file. I think we removed nrzi encoding line from the interface Serial0/0 part of the configuration file. Router came back up. Will work with Bunny to check out switch later on. Moved serial cable from router to switch and am able to communicate with the switch via the PC's COM 1 port. It was pointed at w the wall at positive RA limit. Stopped program which was otherwise still running and restarted after shutting down and repositioning spar off the limit. Now we will be able to hard code the switch if it is necessary when swapping the non-Ultrasparcs. We will work on the switchover tomorrow. MKIV COMMENT: Thu Apr 25 22:00:49 GMT 2002 The temperature on the FLC has been rising slowly throughout the morning between 36 and 38 degrees. I did not record temperature today but did on Monday and Tuesday. Both records were similar. I insulated the printing thermometer's RTD or thermistor after I shutdown to see if the temperature read by the monitor will still vary tomorrow morning. COMMENT: Thu Apr 25 22:05:52 GMT 2002 Checked UNH and GroundWinds fiber connectors and they appear to be incompatible with the connectors on the switch. I've asked Darryl Kuniyuki to assess what needs to be done to connect the fiber cables when he can make it up here--he's tied up right now. He can also let us know which cables are which--there are 4 and there are 2 jacks on the switch.
