Deadvlei (dead marsh) is part of one the oldest deserts in the world, the Namib-Rand desert in Namibia. The clay pan was formed after rainfall, when the Tsauchab river flooded, creating temporary shallow pools where the abundance of water allowed camel thorn trees to grow. When the climate changed, drought hit the area, and sand dunes encroached on the pan, which blocked the river from the area. The trees died, as there no longer was enough water to survive. Well, I had some great sky/light yesterday in Anza so I thought I would run back out there today - I'm going to Death Valley next weekend so this is a good warm-up for me. Today, the sky was not as dynamic but it had some character - Here is a shot from today - The comp is a little off but I kind of like it. Best Viewed Large @ blackmagic

A quick three day stop in the Alvord... The cloud on the right was CRAZY as it swept across the sky it appeared as if it was heading for the ground while it was changing colors from black to grey to pink then a really bright white. Thanks for looking!
