Dinoforest 47
A downloadable game for Windows
Dinoforest 47 is an endless arena shooting game with level ups and random upgrades.
It's made using Dark Basic Classic v1.13 from 2002 on real Windows XP machine. Dark Basic Classic is a buggy mess so I did my best to make it work at least somehow. Running this game on modern (soft/hard)ware is a challenge so most likely you will need a virtual or real Windows XP machine to play.
Made out of nostalgia and sport interest.
Tested specs:
Intel Dual Core, GTX 660 ti, 4 gb ram, Windows XP 32bit

spinning horribly fast and nothing seems to slow it down.
Ran generally fine on Win10, no additional settings.
I got into the endless animation loop when I picked a faster reload upgrade on level 6, couldn't shoot or do anything at all. The walking speed, iirc, was normal, not hindered by reloading
Ran on Windows 10 64-bit with XP compatibility mode (used service pack 2, prompted directplay install)
Pretty neat, the video surrounding it should def. be watched as it gives a lot of insight on how it was made and the challenges of working with the engine.
Fun little FPS, could be made even better with some small updates like better dino sounds and power-up items on the map. Knowing how it was developed is really impressive and made me enjoy it even more. Watch the dev video on YouTube.
Ran great on Windows 11 using XP compatibility mode. RTX 3080 @ 4K.
